“It always seems to me as if the lavender was a woman…She's one of those strong, sweet, wholesome people, who always rest you, and her sweetness lingers long after she goes away” (Myrtle Reed)
This may seem rather whimsical but I love this quote; reading it reminds me of motherhood – strong women who leave their mark long after they have done something!
Also, lavender brings back such lovely childhood memories so the combination of childhood and motherhood rings strong. Beautiful in colour, the scent of lavender and with the abundance of bumble bees and butterflies often nearby it is such a lovely plant to have in the garden or see in the countryside.
We had several lavender plants in the garden when I was growing up and I walked past them almost every day. Now, as an adult, I have planted some so my children can share the same experiences I had, and at this time of year, the flowers (and therefore bees and butterflies) are in abundance. I recently explored the beautiful Hitchin lavender fields not too far from Halia Rose HQ. My two young children loved running through the fields, as did I – who doesn’t love being a big kid?! And who doesn’t love to see butterflies in the garden? Plus knowing your helping the local honeybees can only be a good thing!
From nature to fashion...
At Halia Rose we take a lot of inspiration from nature – you may have noticed that most of our accessories are named after flowers. Being active and doing the things you love to do was at the heart of setting up Halia Rose as I wanted to create a beautiful collection of jewellery that mums could wear whatever activity they were doing – be it outside adventures, inside crafts or cooking, a day trip out shopping or even on holiday by the pool or beach (as well as knowing your jewellery was safe to wear around children and babies).
Sumber necklace in Lavender
From a fashion perspective, whole outfits of purple can be difficult to pull off but a pop of colour through accessories is a perfect way to include this gorgeous hue for summer time. Purple comes in many shades but lavender is our favourite, partly for all the memories it envokes but also the lovely way it adds some colour to even the simplest of outfits!
