Our "March of Inspiring Mums" interview series celebrates women who are doing some amazing things, whether through business, a campaign or just being fabulous!
Our latest interview is with Xristina Georgiou, who describes herself as a mumpreneur... "I work from home in skincare and cosmetics, blogging mama life, kids and beauty". Today she shares with us some tips on juggling life as a mum whilst running her own business, Fancy Doll Faces, plus how her decision to not return to work after maternity leave with her third child led her down a career path which she has fallen in love with.
She lives in Walsall, West Midlands with her husband and three children; Stavros who is 10, Kiriakos who is 6 and Penny who is 3 years old.
Tell me a little about yourself and how you got into the job you’re now doing?
I am 34 years old, have been married to my husband Andreas almost 12 years. I am quite outgoing and love to chat. I was on maternity leave with Penny, so we decided (with the hubby), I was not going to go back to work and would stay home with the kids....but me being me, I got bored quite quickly and needed something to do, so I decided to join a networking marketing company. I am coming up to my 3rd year and love it. Since being on this journey, so many different paths have opened and I am excited as to where my business is heading.
Tell me one interesting fact about you?
erm…. I am quite chilled out and I am always up for a challenge. I also love meeting new people.
Please can you share 3 tips for managing the juggle of motherhood, life and business?
1. stay organised
2. work when you can, don't put stress if it doesn't get done (but get it done when you can)
3. get the kids involved if you can
What’s the best piece of advice you could give a new mum?
Just try and stay relaxed and calm, and the baby will too. Don't over read what is expected as a first time mother, go with your mother instinct.
Colour can make a real difference to our mood - what’s your favourite colour? And how does it make you feel when you wear it?
My favourite colour is red, it makes me feel strong, happy and confident.
What’s your favourite activity to do with your children?
Because of how busy we all are, we don't get much family time, but those quick coffee shop trips are the best, I get to chat with my babies and enjoy their company.
What do you like to do for some me-time?
I don't get alot of me-time (this is slowly changing) as I'm always running around. but if I did, I'd like to spend time at my favourite family-run coffee shop and just enjoy my time with a fab caramel latte. But I wouldn't say no to a spa treatment or retail therapy!!
Thanks Xristina! It's always so inspiring to hear of other mums juggling family life let alone turning a passion into a job that is also flexible around the children.
